| It's a simple story,
nothing complicated. Just two brothers who grew up
outside Philadelphia. Every time they went into the
city, there were the pretzel carts along Walnut and
South Broad Street, selling warm salty goodness. Fifty
cents would buy a row of three fresh pretzels in a
brown paper bag.
Many years later the Wojtalik brothers Patrick and
Chris both settled in Indianapolis. The only pretzels
to be found were either microwaved or dripping in
butter. Each visit back to Philly, they‘d look
forward to enjoying a true Philadelphia soft pretzel.
As Patrick explains, "We wanted to bring that
taste back to Indianapolis, so people here could enjoy
the soft, fresh-baked taste of a true Philadelphia-style
pretzel."
Opening in August, 2009, on the corner of 42nd and
College Ave on Indy‘s Northside, A Taste of
Philly Soft Pretzel Bakery brings this simple dream
home to Indy. Each pretzel is hand-twisted and baked
on site within view of the customers. Operated by
Patrick Wojtalik, the pretzel shop provides customers
with an old-fashioned, no-frills, authentic bakery
experience. Golden brown on the outside, just the
right softness in the middle, the affordable, freshly
baked Philadelphia-style pretzels will keep you coming
back for more.
